The objectives of the seminars are to increase the healthy births and lives of Kentucky children and to provide educational information on the risks associated with alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use during pregnancy including:
o Effects on infant and mother before, during, and following pregnancy and during
breast-feeding
o Use by Partner and its effect on infant and mother
o Link any women experiencing drug or alcohol use related issues with appropriate services including:
- Intervention services
- Drug/Alcohol treatment referral
- Crisis Intervention
- Prenatal/postpartum/well baby care referral
- Case management
- Parenting Classes
- Community Services
- Resource Linkage
Incentives to entice pregnant women to attend are:
Educattiionall inforrmation provided in Baby Shower celebratory format
Upon Completion of the Program (including Alcohol, Tobacco,, and other Drug written
questionairre participants receive baby related items..
Information will be diseminated through use of video, games, interaction and a written drug/alcohol assessment questionnaire, this program is generally completed in a short single session (1-2) hour program.
